The babies were in the crib as I was strapped to one of them on my back. Ha! The whole thing was beginning to come together but we weren't anywhere near finished. In this undertaking, I was prepared to invest a significant amount of money and time looking for my dream house. To keep the cost within my means, I took my boys along with me as I searched for treasures in estate sales. Our routine for the week was to spend Thursday-Saturday walking through garage and estate sales, buying vintage and modern pieces, as well as spending weekends painting and sanding the driveway. It looked a bit similar to the following... Here's the place where my passion for restoring antique furniture started. Once our home was decorated, I couldn't give up! Markets in town had room to let me sell my pieces. I eventually had so many pieces I didn't think of a solution and my storage space was a mess. The house became a venue in which I held open houses where up 1000 people would be able to view the things on the first floor, and then purchase these items. It was here that my business Growing Days was born. Apart from my successful business, I also had the pleasure of growing our family. The balance was between starting a business and becoming a mother. Growing Days was the obvious option. The year was 2013, and my sweet daughter Nora came along our 4th baby. My business's direction was great, but I was forced to take some time off. I decided to put off building my old furniture for a few months and spend time with my kids. It was the right time. It was only after several months that the phones started to be ringing. They asked for my assistance in decorating as well as renovations. A majority of these were those who had walked through my home during the open houses for furniture! In the following months, I began to take on new clients according to my own pace. Then I was able to have many customers and was operating a business of home renovations. I'm sure you would have made me laugh if you told me this was going to be the subject of the DIY Network tv series. It's fun to reflect on the idea.
